This is a unique workshop taught in my home studio. Space is limited to 6 participants which will enable an intimate experience with ample opportunity for questions. Stay an extra day or two and explore the regions rich tradition of arts and crafts.

What to expect

This workshop intends to demystify working with soft slabs and paper patterns, and offers the essential components to creating unique slab built pots. Demonstrations range from simple functional forms and expand to more complex forms including lids, feet, and spouts.

There will be extensive discussion and demonstration on surface treatment using terra sigillata and underglazes. Students will learn how to make terra sigillata and have the opportunity to purchase small batches to take home.

The format of this workshop is demonstration and discussion. Hands-on exercises will be sprinkled in throughout the day. Exercises may include pattern making, slip trailing, and making and using terra sigillata.
