PRODUCT INFORMATION

My work is created from soft earthenware slabs. The forms are initially created from handmade  2 dimensional paper patterns and traced onto thinly rolled slabs. After the pot is rolled up and assembled, then additional components are attached. These include feet, spouts, and lids.

The outside surfaces of my work are created from layers of underglaze, glaze, and terra sigillata. Terra sigillata is an ultrarefined clay slip that can provide anywhere between a soft sheen to a high gloss. The “terra sig” provides a thin, translucent sealant while not distorting the texture underneath. The iron rich clay remains visible and active due to the translucency of the terra sig.

The interior surfaces of all my work, whether functional or decorative, are lined with a food safe glaze.
